Monmouth College is a private, selective residential liberal arts college located in the small city of Monmouth, Illinois. The campus is situated on 112 acres, including a 33-acre nature preserve/athletic park and a 6-acre educational garden.
There are 1,200 students enrolled, coming from 35 different countries. 35 majors, 30 minors and 16 pre-professional programs are offered in the sciences, arts, humanities, mathematics, computer sciences, social sciences, foreign languages, classics, and several interdisciplinary fields (including premedical and pre-engineering studies). Varied internship and study abroad opportunities as well as summer research experiences are also offered.
Fast Facts:
- Monmouth College was founded on the eve of the American Civil War. The campus was still under construction when almost all the male students and faculty left to join the war. Classes continued with predominantly female student body (unlike many, Monmouth College was coeducational from its founding)
- Annual surveys from 2013, 2014 & 2015 show that 99% of Monmouth College graduates are now either employed or attending graduate school
- Student-to-faculty ratio of 11:1 and an average class size of 13 students

Athletics:
The Monmouth College athletic team are known as the ‘Fighting Scots’. They participate in the Midwest Conference and are ranked in the NCAA Division III.
Men’s teams: Baseball, basketball, cross country/track, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, swimming/diving, tennis, and water polo.

Housing:
The Monmouth College campus is a challenging yet nurturing environment that will become your home away from home. Over ninety percent of students live in the eleven residence halls, the fraternity complex, sorority houses and theme houses on campus. There are four women’s residence halls, three men’s residence halls, three co-ed residence halls, co-ed apartment style housing, a fraternity complex, three women’s sorority houses and four theme houses.

Entry Requirements:
- Fully complete either the Common Application or the Monmouth College International Student Application for admission to Monmouth College.
- Email to international@monmouthcollege.edu the official transcripts from all secondary schools and universities/community colleges attended. All transcripts (i.e., the official record of courses and marks), certificates and examination score reports must be accompanied by a translation into English, if the language of the original is not English. UStudy can help clients prepare their transcript in an Americanized format.
- Final examination results, which are often not available until the summer following graduation from high school, and final transcripts are required of admitted students upon arrival at Monmouth College (as proof of completion of high school), but do NOT need to be provided as part of the application itself.
- If your first language is not English you will need to demonstrate English language proficiency (although under certain circumstances this may be waived). English proficiency can be shown via:
TOEFL score of 79 IBT or 550 PBT or above
IELTS score of 6.5 or above
SAT Critical Reading score of 430 or above
ACT score of 19 or abov
5. Submit a thoughtful essay of at least 850 words and no more than 1200 words describing your academic interests and goals, and your reasons for studying in the United States at Monmouth College. Include in this essay some information about yourself that would be helpful to us as we consider your application: academic interests, service activities, leadership experiences, artistic and athletic interests, hobbies and special skills, and career goals.
6. Ask a teacher or guidance counselor to provide one letter of recommendation (on school letterhead and from a school email domain name if at all possible).
7. Complete and sign the International Student Certification of Finances Form, and (if relevant) Sponsor’s Affidavit of Support.
8. Submit proof of available funds in the form of a bank statement (s), loan award letter, private or governmental scholarship award letter.
