OWU or “Ohwooo” is a National Liberal Arts and Sciences University located in the US state of Ohio halfway between Washington DC and Chicago, IL. The approximately 1,700 students at OWU come from nearly every state and over 30 countries around the world. The campus is a very diverse place that welcomes students no matter their cultural or religious background. International students have called OWU “home” since the institution was first founded in 1842.
The University has 88 majors available to students from Accounting to Zoology (A to Z). Many international students study Economics and Business or Biology, Physics, and Math. Still, some of the international students also enjoy the social sciences and humanities. One of the most important and unique options available to all students at OWU is the OWU Connection program. This is an option for students to conduct independent research with their professors. Many students find it an excellent opportunity to prepare for graduate school and a future career. These students gain specific insight and earn prestigious placements after graduation. Furthermore, there are Theory to Practice Grants available up to $7,000 to conduct this research anywhere in the world!
OWU has 21 athletic teams that compete in the very competitive North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) of NCAA Division III. Over the years, the OWU athletic teams have earned a lot of success in many different sports. The University has won 5 national championships in Men’s Basketball, Men’s Soccer (football), and Women’s Soccer (football). Additionally, OWU has won 150 NCAC conference championships, the most in conference since the founding. Besides a storied athletic program, Ohio Wesleyan University has a robust club and intramural program where all students on campus are able to participate in a myriad of activities (100+) in which they wish to be involved.
