About:

College of Lake County is a 2 year comprehensive community college with over 50 degree programs and transfer options to prestigious colleges and universities such as Northwestern, Brown University, Georgia Tech, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, UW-Madison and more. We offer an intensive English language program from beginner to advanced. No TOEFL or IELTS scores required, we have a full testing center on site. Those with testing scores that meet the requirements will be admitted to college level programs. Our Center for International Education offers housing assistance, free airport pick up days, customized orientation, a peer mentor program, and opportunities for working on-campus. Located 1 hour from Chicago, students have access to world-class museums, sports, and cultural activities.

Our most popular majors include accounting, business administration, computer science, digital media, economics, engineering, and information technology.

Regional, national and international colleges and universities offer guaranteed admission to CLC students who meet certain agreement requirements of the college or university where they want to transfer.

Awards And Recognitions:

College of Lake County was awarded the ‘Gold Sustainability Award’ for their environmental efforts and has won multiple ‘Teaching Excellence Awards’ from NISOD (National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development). The college was also awarded the Andrew Heiskell Award for showcasing more than ten years of best practices for innovation in international education. This award is given by the Institute of International Education.

Athletics:

The College of Lake County athletics team are known as the “Lancers”. They participate in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference and are members of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Mens’ teams: Baseball, basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, and tennis.

Women’s teams: Basketball, cross-country, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball.

School Information:

Housing:

College of Lake County offers international students housing assistance. We offer assistance in locating apartments along bus routes to the campus as well as Extended Stay hotel options. There are many choices of apartments with different price ranges and students can live independently or with roommates.

Living with an American host family is also a possibility.

Tests:

TOEFL: none required

No testing scores are required for admission. Everyone is admitted as we have intensive English language program from beginner to advanced. Students may start college level classes towards a degree with 71 TOEFL and 6.0 IELTS

Tuition: (indicative of 2015-2016 academic year)

Tuition and fees per year $9468 ($4734 per semester)

Payment plans are available to make 3-5 smaller payments over the course of the semester enrolled or credit card, cash or check.

Financial aid/scholarships:

No scholarships are available upfront for international students, however after one semester there is an option to apply for a limited variety of scholarships. However, our fees are substantially lower than many other schools.
