About:

California State University Long Beach is the third largest campus of the 23 school California State University system and one of the largest universities in the state of California by enrollment, its student body numbering 36,822 as of Fall semester 2014. Approximately 3,000 students are internationals coming from over 95 different countries.

CSULB was named one of the nation’s “Best Value” public colleges by the Princeton Review, which teamed up with USA Today to present its list of the 150 (75 public and 75 private) “Best Value Colleges for 2013.” and designated CSULB a “Best in the West” college in its website feature, “2013 Best Colleges: Region by Region.” U.S.News & World Report ranked CSULB the fourth best public regional university in the western United States in its 2013 edition of “America’s Best Colleges Guide.”

CSULB comprises eight academic colleges:

  • College of the Arts
  • College of Business Administration
  • College of Education
  • College of Engineering
  • College of Health & Human Services
  • College of Liberal Arts
  • College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
  • College of Continuing & Professional Education

Together, the colleges offer a total of 81 baccalaureate degrees, 67 master’s degrees, 16 education-related credential programs, and three doctoraldegrees (two joint and one independent).

Athletics:

The Cal State Long Beach athletics team are known as the “49ers”. They compete in the Big West Conference, and are members of the NCAA Division I.

Men’s teams: Baseball, basketball, cross-country, golf, track and field, volleyball, and water polo.

Women’s teams: Basketball, beach volleyball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and water polo.

Housing:

First-time freshmen are required (as space is available) to live in University Housing during their first year at CSULB unless they are over 21 years old or will be living at home with a parent(s) or legal guardian(s) during their entire freshmen year.

Entry requirements:

1. Complete the International Application online

2. Pay a U.S. $55 non-refundable application fee

3. Demonstrate English language proficiency with a minimum TOEFL score of 62 (IBT) or 500 (PBT), or a minimum IELTS score of 5.5

4. Original or certified copies of ALL OFFICIAL academic records, certificates, and diplomas

5. English translation of all academic records and certificates/diplomas are required if the original language is in a language other than English

6. All additional supporting documents that may vary from program to program. Please check with the program you are interested in to see what additional documents are required

Tuition:

Estimated costs for an international student for one year:

Tuition and fees: $15,384

Books and supplies: $3,252

Room and meals: $12,492

Insurance (for 12 months): $1,053

TOTAL: $32,181

Some graduate professional programs, such as MBA and credential require higher tuition. Please refer to program website for cost information if you are enrolling in a graduate professional program.
