Athletics:

The Elgin Community College athletics team are known as the “Spartans”. They participate in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference and are members of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Women’s teams: Basketball, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball.

ECC is a great place to start a bachelor’s degree, or earn summer credits for transfer. You can transfer hassle-free to virtually any four-year college or university.

Transfer Degrees include – Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Engineering Science, Associate in Fine Arts-Art, Associate in Fine Arts-Music, and Associate in Liberal Studies.

Housing:

Elgin Community College offers a Homestay Program for all full-time international students on an F1 visa. A homestay is cultural immersion for international students to experience American culture. The student lives with the family for a predetermined amount of time, provided with meals and, if requested, transportation. The family is provided a modest stipend.

Entry requirements:
International students must submit the following:
  1. Complete the online Elgin Community College international student application
  2. Complete an international student financial agreement
  3. Pay a $50 non-refundable processing fee
  4. Provide evidence of financial support
  5. Complete the online International Student Affidavit of Support
  6. Provide certified high school transcripts of results (in English)
  7. Provide a photocopy of your passport
  8. English proficiency is not a requirement to be accepted to Elgin Community College. No TOEFL or IELTS is required for admission to the college. Students not yet proficient in English will be tested upon arrival and placed into the appropriate level in the Intensive English Program. Students who believe they satisfy the English language proficiency requirement as required by federal law must present proof of such proficiency by submitting one of the following:
    • Minimum test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL) score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based) or 71 (internet-based).
    • Minimum international English language testing system (IELTS) overall band score of 6.0.
    • Proof of graduation from a high school where English was the language of instruction.
    • Successful completion of college-level English composition where English was the language of instruction.
  9. All students are required to complete ECC’s placement tests upon admission. The tests determine placement into proper academic courses.

Tuition:

Tuition at Elgin Community College is calculated on a per credit hour basis: $497.79 per credit hour for international students (this does not include lab or course fees).
