Loyola University New Orleans, originally established in 1905, is a private university located on 24 acres on historic oak-lined St. Charles Avenue in Uptown New Orleans; directly across from Audubon Park and Audubon Zoo, with expansive green space and lagoons, golf course, tennis courts and riding stables; 20 minutes from the French Quarter and downtown New Orleans. According to current travel guides, New Orleans is one of the top ten most-visited cities in the United States. Athletics:
Loyola University New Orleans athletic teams are known as the ‘Wolf Pack’. They participate in the Southern States Athletic Conference and are members of the NAIA.
Men’s teams: Baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, tennis, and track & field.
Women’s teams: Basketball, cross country, golf, swimming, tennis, track & field, and volleyball.

Entry Requirements:
- International students need to fulfil the following requirements to be considered for admission:
- Official standardized test scores (also required for consideration of a merit scholarship) for the SAT and/or ACT exam.
- Proof of English proficiency is also required from either the TOEFL or IELTS tests (minimum TOEFL iBT score of 79, minimum IELTS score of 6.5).
- One letter of recommendation to complete your application. It should come from a teacher or educator who can speak to your academic ability. It can be submitted electronically via common application, or emailed, faxed or mailed.
- Official school transcript of results (official English translation required)
- Provide certification, via the Affidavit of Support, that you have funding to meet the cost of attendance (tuition, room, board, associated fees and required insurance) for one year. This document is required to confirm enrollment and receive an I-20 document.
- A Personal Statement: From the Loyola University New Orleans website “This is all about you. The personal statement is your chance to speak directly to the admissions committee – outside the required essay. It’s your chance to go beyond filling out forms to show us how you’d fit into the Loyola community. While it’s optional, we encourage you to make this statement. We’re looking not just for your academic leadership, but also your community involvement, personal achievement and, truly, who you are as a person. If you’ve experienced any personal hardships during high school, this is a chance to tell us and to explain your circumstances to the committee.”
- A 500 word essay with the same essay topics as the Common Application
- Students must submit a photocopy of their current VISA, or if they do not currently hold a VISA, submit the picture page of their passport or national identification.
