Northwest Missouri State University is located in Maryville, Missouri, and was founded in 1905. It is a state-assisted, four-year regional university that also offers graduate degree programs. Northwest offers 127 undergraduate programs and 40 graduate programs. The business, education, geography and agriculture departments graduate the largest number of students each year. Career Services offers an “Exploring Majors” fair where students can learn about different majors on campus and find which major is the perfect fit for them.
Northwest is a true advocate of profession-based experience. For instance, in the Horace Mann Lab School students majoring in education get a true inside view of what teaching is all about. Northwest offers several other opportunities for profession-based experiences including internships, the University farm for agriculture majors, on-campus radio and television stations and volunteer work.
Around 7,000 students are enrolled at Northwest, and a student to teacher ratio of 20 to 1. The international student body represents 32 different countries.

Athletics:
The Northwest Missouri State University athletic teams are known as the ‘Bearcats’. They participate in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and are members of the NCAA Division II.
Men’s teams: Baseball, basketball, cross country, football, tennis, and track and field.
Women’s teams: Basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

Entry Requirements:
HOW TO APPLY
- Apply through the Northwest Missouri State University online application.
- Pay the $50 (U.S. currency) application fee – nonrefundable processing fee required of every applicant.
- Official transcripts from every secondary school, college, university, technical/vocational institute or professional institution attended** (all records must be certified and translated into English). Syllabi (course descriptions) are required for undergraduates transferring from universities outside the U.S.
- A copy of your passport.
- Official test score reports (ACT/SAT; GRE/GMAT; etc.) if available. Minimum scores are as follows: 21 ACT composite or higher (or the SAT equivalent: SAT 1060). GRE/GMAT scores are required for graduate students.
- Completed financial data, including the Northwest statement of support form and bank statement.
- Official TOEFL, IELTS or PTE score report (for non-native speakers of English). Minimum scores are as follows: TOEFL (PBT) 500, TOEFL (IBT) 61, and IELTS 5.5
- Transfer recommendation form (if transferring from within USA from another U.S. SEVIS-approved school to Northwest).
