Oregon State University is one of only two US universities designated a land-, sea-, space- and sun-grant institution. OSU is also Oregon’s only university to hold both the Carnegie Foundation’s top designation for research institutions and its prestigious Community Engagement classification. Its 26,000+ students come from all 50 states and more than 90 nations.

Located on a stunning campus in the small, friendly town of Corvallis (90 minutes by car from the major metropolitan city of Portland and only one hour from the Pacific Ocean) studying at OSU will provide you with a true American university experience.

Undergraduates at OSU can explore more than 200 academic programs, and graduate students can choose from more than 80 master’s programs, including those in the schools of business, engineering and education. OSU is the state’s largest public research university. The most popular majors at OSU include: Engineering; Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services; Family and Consumer Sciences/Human Sciences; Agriculture, Agriculture Operations, and Related Sciences; and Natural Resources and Conservation.

Athletics:

Oregon State University athletic teams are known as the ‘Beavers’. They participate in the Pacific 12 Conference and are ranked in the NCAA Division I.

Men’s teams: Baseball, basketball, football, golf, rowing, soccer, and wrestling.

Women’s teams: Basketball, cross country/track, golf, gymnastics, rowing, soccer, softball, swimming/diving, and volleyball.

School Information:

Housing:

On-campus housing is available in residence halls that house more than 4,000 student residents. All residence halls are conveniently located around campus. Each features high-speed Internet throughout the building, including wireless connections in each lounge.

Homestay is also available through a network of carefully selected homestay hosts who welcome international students into their homes. You live as part of the family in either a shared or private bedroom, experiencing the day-to-day life of your host. The program is limited in availability.

Minimum requirements for current international high school students:

  • Secondary/high school diploma
  • In-country equivalent of 3.0 high school GPA on a 4.0 scale (UStudy can assist you in converting your high school results into a GPA equivalent)
  • TOEFL iBT 80 (18 minimum subscores), IELTS 6.5 (6.0 minimum subscores) or completion of INTO Academic English Level 6 with no grades below C (language requirement may be waived on an individual basis based on SAT/ACT scores or previous study in English-speaking country.)
