What Are Summer Programs & Youth Camps?

Summer programs and youth camps

Many summer programs are available anywhere in the US for young people from 12 to 19 years of age. These may be run on the campus of a college prep school, a college or university or at a language institute. Programs may focus on certain sports (such as field hockey, football, tennis and horse riding) or arts (such as acting, dance, music, theatre, creative writing, painting and sculpture).

Summer programs are also offered where students have the opportunity to brush up on certain school subjects or focus on improving their English language skills. The length of the program varies on average between 3 to 8 weeks and can be done anywhere in the US. These include a sporting activity program on the coasts of Florida or California, surfing in Hawaii or a cultural language holiday in Manhattan, New York City.
