Lincoln Academy
Maine, USA

Lincoln Academy is a private high school located in Newcastle, Maine serving students in Midcoast Maine, the United States, and nations around the world.

The school also has residential students who come from China, Vietnam, Japan, Korea, Spain, Turkey, Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, and the U.S. 84 residential students live in two dormitories on campus: the Hall House, renovated from a classroom building in 2013, and a new dormitory built in 2015.

On April 17, 2015, Lincoln Academy celebrated the grand opening of the newly constructed Cable-Burns Applied Technology and Engineering Center (abbreviated as ATEC). The ATEC building offers flexible, modern classroom space for traditionally-offered course such as Digital Media Production, Small Engines, Digital Photography, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), as well as new courses such as Engineering, Invent to Learn, and Metal Sculpture.

  • LA was founded in 1801 and is the fourth oldest secondary school in Maine.
  • LA is located in a safe, coastal town and is only one hour from Portland, Maine and three hours from Boston.
  • LA has 585 students from 18 towns as well as 19 countries.
  • LA’s student to teacher ratio is 12 to 1, and the average class size is 18.
  • LA has 60 faculty; 58% with graduate degrees.
  • LA offers 19 AP classes as well as honors courses.
  • LA has over 40 clubs, activities, and sports.
  • LA has new science laboratories and updated classroom facilities.  There is also a beautiful new dining commons as well as a black box theater.  A new residence hall opened in the fall of 2013, and another new dormitory opened in February 2015.  The new Applied Technology and Engineering Center began hosting classes in March 2015.
  • LA is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and is a member of the Maine Association of Independent Schools, the National Association of Independent Schools, the Independent Schools Association of Northern New England, the College Board, The Association of Boarding Schools, the Secondary School Admission Test Board, and the Maine Principals’ Association.
