A few of our UStudy Ambassadors answer some questions for your behalf, revealing what student life is like in the US, their highlights, and what opportunities have opened up for them.
During a gap year, Micha van der Lee majored in Biochemistry, with a minor in French, at Bates College in Maine. She played for the school’s field and ice hockey team, as well. Read all about how she, at first, had to get used to her new environment, and how she, now, wants nothing more than to go back to the U.S.A. for school.
Lisa Maxwell is a Junior at Manhattanville College in New York, and she plays on the Women’s Field Hockey team. Lisa gives us insight in her US experience and she gives us must-sees and must-dos at Manhattanville College and around.
Senne Braun – studied Psychology and played varsity tennis at College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California
Joosje Duk – studied Acting, Filmmaking & Journalism at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, a small interdisciplinary college of New York University.
Fergus Knies – studied General Studies and played varsity tennis at Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana
Arrien Hoogendoorn – studied Business Administration at Skagit Valley College (Mt Vernon, Washington) and is presently at City University of Seattle (Seattle, Washington)
Zoë Houben – studied Liberal Arts at the small, prestigious and typically American Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania
Sam Sharafuddin – attended one year of college preparatory school (high school – boarding) St Johnsbury Academy in St Johnsbury, Vermont
Inge Sijpesteijn – studied at Michigan State University (in East Lansing, Michigan) for one year, then transferred for a further three years (and graduated) from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virgina, where she played field hockey.
Bregje Smits – currently studying Communications & Media with a minor in Marketing, whilst playing hockey for Manhattanville College in New York City.
Martijn van Dooren – currently studying Business Administration and playing varsity tennis at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois
Nienke van Staveren – studied at Shorter College (now Shorter University) and played varsity tennis (Read about Nienke’s experience in her article for 2016’s Fair Brochure below)
Iris Verboven – studied Civil Engineering and played varsity tennis for ‘Ole Miss’ (University of Mississippi) in Oxford, Mississippi
Rachelle Visser – studied International Business and joined the swim team at Santa Barbara City College in Santa Barbara, California
Daphne Voormolen – studied a double major of Business Administration and Public Health and played varsity field hockey at the University of Albany in New York (SUNY Albany)
Ricky Voorn – completed a Master of Arts in Sport Administration & Leadership and played baseball at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
